The Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” is reportedly coming back in Fall 2027, giving one of the most recognizable original AJ4 colorways another turn in the spotlight. For now, the images shown are only mockups, so the final retail pair could still look different once official product shots surface.

Still, the information around this release is already interesting. The “Fire Red” Air Jordan 4 originally released in 1989 and has returned several times since then, including drops in 2006, 2012 and 2020. The 2020 release was especially important because it brought back the classic Nike Air branding on the heel, making it one of the more popular modern versions of the colorway.

A Classic Jordan 4 Colorway

The expected 2027 version sticks to the familiar White, Black, Tech Grey and Fire Red color setup. That combination is exactly what makes the pair so timeless: a clean white base, strong black contrast, grey detailing and red hits across the eyelets, lining, outsole and branding.

It is not the loudest Jordan 4 colorway, but it is one of the most important. The “Fire Red” look sits right next to other original AJ4 classics like “Bred,” “Military Blue” and “White Cement,” which is why every return gets attention from both long-time Jordan fans and newer collectors.

Closer to the Original Shape?

According to early information, Jordan Brand is expected to refine this version even further toward the original 1989 look. That could mean a shape closer to the OG pair, a cleaner toe box, updated mesh/netting and improved comfort underfoot.

That part matters a lot. Over the past few years, Jordan Brand has clearly been paying more attention to retro shape and small construction details. If the 2027 “Fire Red” really comes with a better toe shape and more accurate proportions, it could become a much stronger release than just another standard reissue.

The improved cushioning detail is also worth watching. The Air Jordan 4 is an iconic silhouette, but comfort has never been its biggest selling point. Any update that makes the shoe more wearable without changing the classic look would be a welcome move.

Still Early, Still Mockups

At this stage, the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” 2027 is still early. No official Nike images have been released yet, and the mockups should not be treated as the final product. The overall color blocking is expected to stay true to the classic “Fire Red” formula, but details like shape, materials, tongue height, mesh angle and branding placement can only really be judged once official photos arrive.

The release is currently expected for Fall 2027 with a retail price of $230. A style code has not been confirmed yet.

If Jordan Brand gets the shape right, this could easily become one of the bigger general release Jordan 4 drops of 2027.
