Infinite Archives Expands Its Air Jordan 17 Collaboration

Infinite Archives looks set to return to the Air Jordan 17 Low in a major way.

After last year's popular “Beach” release, a new “Varsity Red” edition has surfaced and is currently expected to release during Spring 2027.

The pair is listed in a Sail, Metallic Silver and Varsity Red color scheme and carries style code JA8018-101. Retail is currently expected to come in at $255.

The first Infinite Archives Air Jordan 17 Low helped bring fresh attention to a silhouette that Jordan Brand rarely pushes as heavily as models like the Air Jordan 1, 3, 4 or 11. With the “Beach” colorway becoming increasingly sought after after release, expectations surrounding the follow-up are considerably higher.

Varsity Red Changes the Look Completely

The new colorway keeps the overall Infinite Archives formula recognizable while giving it a much stronger visual identity.

Early images show a clean Sail-colored upper combined with black around the inner bootie and lacing system. The biggest change comes toward the rear of the sneaker, where a glossy Varsity Red finish takes over sections of the midsole and heel.

That bright red accent immediately gives the Air Jordan 17 Low a more aggressive appearance than the neutral “Beach” predecessor.

Metallic details add another layer to the design, while the long black laces and technical construction keep the unusual early-2000s character of the AJ17 intact.

It is a combination that feels familiar enough to sit alongside the original Infinite Archives collaboration without simply repeating it.

Varsity Purple Is Expected Alongside It

The “Varsity Red” is also only half of the story.

Infinite Archives and Jordan Brand are expected to release a second “Varsity Purple” Air Jordan 17 Low during the same Spring 2027 season. That sneaker uses the same Sail and Metallic Silver base, replacing the red elements with a deep purple finish.

Whether the two sneakers will form an official pack remains unclear.

It is also too early to know if Jordan Brand plans a global release for both pairs or if availability will once again differ depending on the region. That could become one of the biggest factors determining how difficult these are to buy.

Jordan Brand Is Clearly Trying Something Different

The return of this project is particularly interesting given where the sneaker market currently stands.

Jordan Brand has seen demand soften significantly compared with the peak years of sneaker hype. Many general-release Jordans that would previously have sold out immediately can now be found sitting at retailers or eventually reaching discounts.

That makes collaborations and less predictable silhouettes increasingly important.

Instead of simply producing more colorways of the same handful of models, releases like the Infinite Archives Air Jordan 17 Low give collectors something noticeably different. The success of the first pair suggests there is still strong demand when the product, storytelling and scarcity come together.
