Ja Morant Teases the Nike Ja 4 High

Ja Morant’s signature line is moving fast. The regular Nike Ja 4 only recently started rolling out, but Ja has already previewed what appears to be the next big step for the model: the Nike Ja 4 High.

The first look came through Ja himself, showing a much more aggressive version of his fourth signature sneaker. While the low-top Ja 4 already introduced a new shape and updated performance setup, the High takes the design in a completely different direction. It looks louder, more experimental and definitely more polarizing.

Right now, release information is still limited, but the Nike Ja 4 High is currently expected to launch during Holiday 2026 with a retail price of $180.

A Wild High-Top Version of the Ja 4

Based on the early images, the Ja 4 High keeps some of the visual language from the low-top model but adds a much bolder upper construction. The pair shown by Ja comes in a bright red look with a higher collar, textured panels and sharp side detailing that makes the shoe feel almost like a performance boot.

The upper appears to use a heavy haptic-style texture across the forefoot and ankle area, while metallic-looking side pieces and black detailing add contrast. There also seems to be a zip-style pull detail near the collar, giving the sneaker an even more technical feel.

It is definitely not a quiet basketball shoe. The design feels built to stand out, and that alone should make reactions pretty interesting once more in-hand looks start surfacing.

Performance Questions Still Remain

The biggest question is how the Nike Ja 4 High will actually perform on court. High-top basketball shoes can offer more coverage and lockdown, but they also need to feel light and responsive enough for quick guards. That is especially important for a player like Ja Morant, whose signature line is built around speed, explosiveness and sharp movement.

Nike already updated the Ja 4 with a new TPU JA-Frame, Cushlon 3.0 cushioning and a more responsive underfoot setup, so the High could bring that same base into a more supportive build. Still, we will have to wait for real performance feedback before judging how the higher cut changes the feel.

Compared to the Ja 4 Low, this will likely be the more premium and more limited-feeling version of the model. Whether sneaker fans fully connect with the wild high-top design remains to be seen, but Ja clearly has momentum right now. If the right colorways hit and the shoe performs well, the Ja 4 High could become one of the more interesting Nike Basketball releases of the Holiday season.
