Infinite Archives Returns to the Air Jordan 17 Low

Infinite Archives and Jordan Brand appear ready to continue one of the more interesting sneaker partnerships of the past few years. Following the well-received “Beach” Air Jordan 17 Low, a new “Varsity Purple” colorway is now expected to release during Spring 2027.

The upcoming pair is listed in Sail, Metallic Silver and Varsity Purple, with style code JA8018-100 and a current retail price of $255.

The previous Infinite Archives Air Jordan 17 Low showed that there is still plenty of interest in less frequently used Jordan silhouettes when the execution is right. The “Beach” release quickly became one of the more talked-about Air Jordan 17 projects, and aftermarket prices have remained strong. That puts considerably more attention on what Infinite Archives does next.

Varsity Purple Gives the Collaboration a Bolder Look

While the original release leaned heavily into neutral tones, this new version introduces a much stronger dose of color.

Early images show the Air Jordan 17 Low with a predominantly Sail upper, contrasted by a glossy Varsity Purple section around the heel and midsole. Black covers the inner bootie and laces, while metallic details give the shoe another premium touch.

It is still recognizably connected to the first Infinite Archives release, but the purple changes the entire character of the shoe. Instead of the understated appearance of the “Beach” pair, this one feels considerably more aggressive.

For a model like the Air Jordan 17 Low, that works surprisingly well. The silhouette already has a very distinct early-2000s performance aesthetic, and the brighter color blocking makes those design elements stand out even more.

A Second “Varsity Red” Colorway Is Also Coming

The purple pair will apparently not arrive alone.

A second Infinite Archives x Air Jordan 17 Low “Varsity Red” is also expected for Spring 2027. That version uses the same Sail and Metallic Silver foundation but replaces the purple sections with Varsity Red.

That immediately raises another question: how exactly will Jordan Brand release the two pairs?

At this point, there is no confirmed distribution plan. They could receive a wider release together, launch separately, or potentially follow a more restricted or region-specific strategy. Considering how the previous collaboration was handled, it is worth waiting for official information before assuming that both colorways will be easy to buy.

Could This Be Another Big Infinite Archives Release?

Jordan Brand is clearly trying different approaches to rebuild excitement around its sneaker releases after the market cooled significantly over the past few years.

Collaborations like Infinite Archives make sense within that strategy. Instead of relying only on another Air Jordan 1 or Air Jordan 4 colorway, the brand is giving a less common silhouette a premium collaboration and creating something that feels more collectible.

The first release already proved that the formula can work.
